Annamarie Cockreham was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended CAPA at the inception of this first public Creative and Performing Arts High School in the city of Pittsburgh. She traveled around the city for recruitment to CAPA, performing with the jazz band, playing alto saxophone, accompanying vocalists and performing solo classical piano repertoire. After graduating CAPA, Annamarie went on to earn her Bachelor Degree of Music in Piano Performance and Studio Teaching at Susquehanna University. She was also a founding member of Zeta Tau Alpha's Iota Nu Chapter at Susquehanna.
Annamarie relocated to South Florida after graduating SU, where she worked in retail management for several years, then worked in the engineering department of AmeriSteel, detailing rebar drawings. Her eight years of detailing contributed to such buildings as the Florida Panther Arena and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Tequesta Key. While working fulltime at AmeriSteel, Annamarie maintained a piano studio with 12-15 piano students. In 2001, she made the decision to leave AmeriSteel and pursue teaching piano privately, fulltime.
